Replacing your missing teeth with dental implants doesn’t happen overnight—the process takes several months, but it’s worth the wait because you get something close to the real deal. 

Your implant journey begins with a consultation with an implant dentist like Dr. Nguyen. The dentist examines your oral health to establish you are free from cavities, gum disease, and other problems. Most importantly, the dentist uses digital X-rays and photos to inspect the health of the jawbone for a successful implant surgery.

Actual Patients Before and After Results

After the initial consultation, the other steps include:

• Pre-surgery procedures: Some patients may require dental extraction to replace the failing tooth with a predictable dental implant. If you have insufficient jawbone, bone grafting will be necessary to replenish your bone with lost tissue
• Implant surgery: Surgery is the most critical step of the implant treatment. Our dentist will skillfully insert a titanium post at a precise location in the jawbone. We’ll observe the utmost care to ensure a comfortable and safe outcome
• Healing and fusion: The surgical site needs about two weeks to heal, but it requires four to six months for the implant to fuse with the jawbone through osseointegration. After successful integration, the implant will be firmly embedded in the jawbone to support one or more prosthetic teeth
• Abutment placement and impressions: Once osseointegration occurs, you’ll return to our office for minor surgery to attach an abutment that links the implant fixture to the final restoration. Then, we’ll take impressions of your implant to be used by our dental lab to fabricate your bespoke restoration
• Tooth restoration: The final step is to cover your implant(s) with a crown or denture, depending on the number of missing teeth
